London to Pearson & the airports · 2026-09-21 · 8-minute read

An international student arriving at Pearson for Western University or Fanshawe College is met in Terminal 1's or Terminal 3's arrivals hall by a LondonLimo.net chauffeur holding a board with the student's name, the flight tracked from its departure in Delhi, Lagos, Beijing or wherever it left, the two cases carried to the car, the two-hour drive down the 401 to London, and the residence's loading zone at the end - with a text to the parents when the student is in the car and another at the residence door. The booking is made from abroad on the reservation engine in the parents' own time zone at the fixed planning figure of $295-345 plus HST for a sedan, and the universities page describes the campus; this article is the arrival itself, for the parent who cannot be there.

The booking, from an ocean away

A parent opens the reservation engine in Delhi at 11 p.m., enters Pearson's Terminal 1 as the pickup with the flight number, Saugeen-Maitland Hall or a Fanshawe residence as the destination, the student's name for the board, two passengers if a parent is travelling too, three bags, and a phone number in India and the student's new Canadian one if it exists; pays with any major card in Canadian dollars; and receives the confirmation. The evening before the flight, the chauffeur's name, mobile and plate arrive by email and text to both numbers. The airport pickup guide explains what the student will see.

Immigration for a student, and the wait it takes

A first-time student arrival at Pearson goes through the CBSA's primary inspection and then to the immigration counter where the study permit is issued - a queue that on a September evening runs from forty minutes to two hours - before the bags and the exit; the chauffeur's ninety-minute included wait covers most of it, the desk extends the wait when it sees the queue on the airport's data, and a student who texts the chauffeur from the queue is waited for regardless. Nothing is charged for a first-timer's queue.

The hall, and the board in the student's language

Terminal 1's international arrivals hall is loud, bright and full of people holding signs, and a nineteen-year-old who has never left Chennai walks into it with two cases and a phone with no Canadian SIM; the board reads the student's name in English and, on request, in Hindi, Tamil, Mandarin, Arabic or Portuguese, and the chauffeur greets by name, takes the cases, and walks the student to the car with the parents' number already in hand. The chauffeurs page describes the standard and the languages available.

The drive, and the first two hours in Canada

The 427, the 401 west, the farmland past Milton, the wind turbines past Woodstock, and London's lights after two hours; the chauffeur answers questions if asked - the weather in January, the bus to campus, where the nearest Indian grocery is - and keeps the cabin quiet if the student sleeps. A stop at a Walmart or a Shoppers on Wellington Road for a SIM card, a duvet and a kettle is fifteen minutes inside the fare and the commonest request; a longer shop is an hourly booking the parent can add.

The residences, and where the car stops

Saugeen-Maitland, Delaware, Perth, Essex, Elgin, Medway-Sydenham, Ontario Hall, London Hall and Alumni House at Western, each with a loading zone the chauffeur knows and a front desk that checks the student in; Huron's and King's own residences on Western Road and Epworth Avenue; Fanshawe's residences on the Oxford Street campus and the apartment buildings around it. The chauffeur carries the cases to the desk, waits until the student has the key, and texts the parents; the universities page has the campus map and the neighbourhoods page the student streets.

September, January and the peaks

The last week of August and the first of September, and the first week of January, are the arrivals' peaks: Western's and Fanshawe's international intakes land at Pearson on the same dozen flights over ten days, and the desk runs a manifest of them with sedans, SUVs and, for a group from one city arriving together, a Sprinter at $545-645 for fourteen with the cases in the bays. A parent who books early gets the confirmation; a parent who books the week before may be offered a shared Sprinter with other students from the same flight, which the desk arranges and most parents welcome.

The reverse: April, December and the flight home

The exam-week exodus in April and the Christmas flights in December are the same booking mirrored: the residence loading zone at the hour the desk sets from the flight, the cases, the 401, Terminal 1's departures curb, and a text to the parents that the student is checked in. A household account holds the student's addresses and the parents' numbers so that each run is a one-minute booking, as the black car service page describes.

YXU, and the connection

A student whose ticket ends at London International rather than Pearson is met beside YXU's carousel the same way, at $45-65 to the residence; the YXU arrivals article has the meet and the connection article what happens when the Pearson-to-YXU leg is missed - which is a text to the desk and a chauffeur at Terminal 1 instead.

What it costs, and what it does not

The Pearson run at $295-345 for a sedan, $345-395 for an SUV with more cases, or $39-46 a head in a shared Sprinter; the meet, the wait, the tracking, the fifteen-minute stop and the gratuity inside; nothing added at the door; and a receipt to the parent's email with HST shown. The cost guide has the fare's contents and the rates page every class.

Three arrivals, as they went

A student from Chennai, Terminal 1, late August. Landed 40 minutes late at 6:50 p.m.; 95 minutes through immigration; the chauffeur was at the doors with a board in English and Tamil; the parents were texted at 8:30 and again at 10:45 at Saugeen's desk. Booked from Chennai eleven days earlier.

A student from Lagos, Terminal 3, January. A first Canadian winter at minus fifteen; the chauffeur had a blanket in the car and stopped at a Walmart for a coat; Fanshawe's residence at 11 p.m.; the parents texted at each step.

Four students from Hyderabad on the same flight, September. A shared Sprinter arranged by the desk from four parents' separate bookings; $150 each; three Western residences and one Fanshawe apartment in one run.

Booking it

The reservation engine takes the booking from any country with the flight number, the residence and the parents' number; the universities page has the campus, and the desk answers a parent's questions by email in any time zone.

Three questions a parent asks the desk

How do I know the chauffeur is legitimate? The chauffeur's name, mobile and plate arrive by text and email the evening before; the chauffeurs page publishes the licensing and screening standard; and the desk answers a parent's email in any time zone. What if my child's phone does not work in Canada? The chauffeur has the parent's number and texts it; the board in the hall needs no phone; and a fifteen-minute stop for a SIM card on Wellington Road is inside the fare. Can the student pay in cash? No - the booking is paid by card at the time of booking, in Canadian dollars, so that the student carries nothing and owes nothing at the door.

The study permit at the counter

A first-time student presents the letter of introduction from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and the passport at the immigration counter after primary inspection, and the study permit is printed there; the queue is the September evening's longest, and the chauffeur's wait covers it. A student who is asked to wait for a supervisor texts the chauffeur, who waits.

Western's residences, one by one

Saugeen-Maitland Hall on Western Road with its loading zone on the residence's east side; Delaware, Medway-Sydenham and Elgin Halls along the campus's middle; Perth and Essex Halls; Ontario Hall on Sarnia Road; London Hall and Alumni House; Huron's residences on Western Road and King's on Epworth Avenue. The chauffeur knows each front desk's hours and the loading zone's rules, and the universities page has the campus map.

Fanshawe's residences and the Oxford Street apartments

Fanshawe's on-campus residences on the Oxford Street East campus, and the student apartment buildings along Oxford Street and Cheapside Street that many international students rent, are ten minutes from YXU and twenty from the 401's Highbury exit; the chauffeur carries the cases to the building's door and waits until the student is inside, and the Fanshawe article has the college in detail.

The first winter, and the coat

A student from a tropical country arriving in January walks out of Terminal 1 into minus fifteen in a light jacket; the chauffeur has a blanket in the car and stops at a Walmart on Wellington Road for a coat and boots on the way to the residence, fifteen minutes inside the fare; parents who know this in advance ask the desk to add the stop when they book. The winter article has the road's side of January.

The parents' visit, later

The parents who booked the September arrival from abroad fly in themselves for convocation four years later, and the universities page describes that weekend - the Pearson meet, the hotel, the SUV by the hour for the ceremony and the photographs; the household account opened for the student's arrival holds the family's addresses for it.

Booking checklist for a parent abroad

The flight number and the scheduled arrival at Pearson or YXU; the student's name for the board and the language; the residence or the apartment address; the bags; a stop for a SIM card or a coat; the parents' phone number for the texts, with the country code; and a card. The reservation engine takes it from any country, and the desk answers by email.
