A chauffeured black car from London, Ontario to Grand Bend with LondonLimo.net is 80 km north on Highway 4 through Exeter and Highway 81, or Highway 402 and Highway 21 along the shore, in about an hour off-peak, at a fixed rate shown before you confirm - a planning figure of $165-205 plus HST for a business sedan, $205-250 for an SUV, $340-410 for a Sprinter; Bayfield is $190-230 and Goderich $220-260. Grand Bend's Main Beach and the strip, the Pinery Provincial Park's dunes and Old Ausable Channel, the Huron Country Playhouse, Bayfield's harbour, its inns and its main street, Goderich's octagonal square, its beaches and the salt mine, Exeter and the Huron County farmland are the addresses the chauffeurs know, and the summer Saturday by the hour with the chauffeur parked at the beach is the booking London families make most from June to September.
Why Londoners go to the Huron shore
Because it is London's beach. Grand Bend's Main Beach is an hour from the city and among the best in the country; the Pinery is the province's most-visited provincial park with ten kilometres of dunes and Carolinian forest; Bayfield is the prettiest village on the lake with the inns and restaurants to match; Goderich is the county town with the square, the harbour and the sunsets the tourism boards photograph. Londoners go for the summer Saturday, the cottage week, the Playhouse's summer season, the fall colours on the Ausable, the Bayfield dinner, the Goderich Celtic festival in August, the Zurich bean festival and the Exeter fair - and the chauffeur goes because a beach day with a cooler, three children and a July parking search is not a day anyone should drive.

The drive: Highway 4 north, or the 402 and the shore
Richmond Street and Highway 4 north through Elginfield, Lucan, Clandeboye and Exeter, then Highway 81 or Highway 83 west to the lake; an hour to Grand Bend's strip. The alternative is the 402 west to Highway 21 at Forest and north along the shore past Ipperwash and Port Franks, the same time and prettier. Both are two-lane country roads; the July Saturday queue into Grand Bend along Highway 21 is the only traffic, and the chauffeur knows the back roads that avoid it. Bayfield is fifteen minutes north of Grand Bend on the 21 and Goderich fifteen beyond. In winter the 4 drifts in a west wind and Ontario 511 is read before every run.

Grand Bend: the beach, the strip and the Playhouse
Main Beach with its boardwalk and its lifeguards, the strip's restaurants, ice cream and bars, the river mouth and the marina, the Huron Country Playhouse's summer musicals at the edge of town, the Grand Bend Motorplex's drag racing, the Sunday-night sunset crowd on the pier: a London family's Saturday is an SUV by the hour from 10 with the chauffeur parked behind the strip, the cooler and the chairs in the vehicle, dinner on the strip at 6, and home at 8; a couple's Playhouse evening is a sedan by the hour with dinner before. Lambton Shores' site publishes the beach conditions and the events.
The Pinery and Port Franks
The Pinery's day-use beaches, the Old Ausable Channel's canoe rentals, the trails through the oak savanna and the dunes, the campground for a family week, and Port Franks's small harbour and beach at the park's north end: the chauffeur drops at the day-use lot the park directs, waits by the hour, and the Ontario Parks site sells the day passes the family needs.
Bayfield: the harbour, the inns and the dinner
Bayfield's tree-lined main street with its shops and galleries, the Little Inn and the Albion, the restaurants, the harbour and the marina below the bluff, Pioneer Park's sunset bench: a London couple's Bayfield evening is a luxury sedan by the hour with dinner at 7 and the drive home at 10, or a night at an inn booked by the travel desk with the chauffeur back in the morning; a family's Bayfield day is the beach below the village and lunch on the main street.

Goderich: the square, the waterfront and the county town
Goderich's octagonal Court House Square, the harbour and its three beaches below the bluff, the boardwalk, the salt mine's headframe, the Huron County Museum and the gaol, the Celtic Roots festival in August and the Christmas lights on the square: a London day in Goderich by the hour with lunch on the square and the sunset from the bluff, and the Town of Goderich's site publishing the calendar.
The cottage week and the household account
London families with cottages at Grand Bend, Port Franks, Bayfield, Southcott Pines and the shore between them book the run up on Friday and the run home on Sunday, the grandparents' visit mid-week, and the grocery run when the second car stayed in the city: a household account holds the cottage address, the gate code the family authorises, and the standing bookings for the summer.
Weddings and events on the shore
The Grand Bend and Bayfield beach venues, the Pinery's pavilions, the Huron County barn venues, the Goderich waterfront, the Playhouse's grounds: a London wedding party by Sprinter and the guests by coach, the couple in a stretch through our partner fleet, quoted from the timeline as the wedding page describes, with the beach traffic and the country roads built into the timings.
Exeter, Lucan and the Huron County farms
Exeter's main street and its fair, Lucan's Donnelly history, Zurich's bean festival, Hensall's grain elevators, the Huron County farms and their markets, the Bluewater wineries and cideries: the county between London and the lake is a Saturday's drive, and a London family's day by the hour touches a farm market, the beach and dinner in Bayfield.
Sarnia and the shore road south
The shore road south from Grand Bend passes Ipperwash and Forest to Sarnia in forty minutes, and a Lambton day by the hour touches Grand Bend's beach and Sarnia's casino or Canatara Park on one booking; the Sarnia page has the city.
The Huron shore inns and the night
The Little Inn and the Albion in Bayfield, the Oakwood Resort and the strip's hotels at Grand Bend, the Benmiller Inn near Goderich, the cottages and the Pinery's campground: the travel desk books the room on the file with the chauffeurs for a Playhouse evening or a shore weekend.
Winter on the shore
The shore is a summer place, but the Pinery's cross-country skiing, Goderich's Christmas lights and Bayfield's winter dinners draw Londoners in the cold months; the 4 and the 21 drift in a west wind off the lake, and the chauffeur reads 511 and the forecast before every winter run. Winter tires from November to April; all-wheel-drive SUVs on the bad days; the fixed rate unchanged.
The honest alternatives
There is no train or bus to Grand Bend worth the name; driving yourself on a July Saturday means the queue into town and the parking search; a taxi from London on the meter costs about the chauffeured fare with none of the certainty. For the beach day, the cottage week, the Playhouse evening, the Bayfield dinner and the wedding on the shore, the chauffeured fixed rate or the day by the hour.
Three Huron shore bookings, as they actually ran
A beach Saturday, July. An executive SUV for a family of five from Masonville at 9:30, Main Beach by 10:40 with the cooler and the chairs, the strip for ice cream at 4, dinner at 6, and home at 8:30. Eleven hours by the hour; nobody searched for parking.
A Playhouse evening, August. A luxury sedan for a couple from Old South at 4:30, dinner in Grand Bend at 6, the Playhouse at 8, and home at 11:30. Seven hours by the hour.
A cottage week, Friday to Sunday. A luxury van from Byron with a family, the dog and a week's groceries to a cottage at Southcott Pines on Friday at 4, and the chauffeur back the next Sunday at 3. Two fixed rates on the household account.
Three questions the desk is asked about the shore
Can the chauffeur wait at the beach all day? Yes, by the hour, parked behind the strip or at the Pinery's lot. Can we bring the dog? Yes, with notice, and the SUV or the van is sent. Is Goderich too far for a day? An hour twenty-five each way and a long summer evening; most people make it a Bayfield-and-Goderich day by the hour.
Booking it
Two addresses on the reservation engine, the date and time, the vehicle class; the fixed rate appears; or book the shore day by the hour. Cottage-week standing bookings and weddings are set up by the desk; the rates page has Grand Bend beside Sarnia and St. Thomas.

What the Huron shore looks like from the car
Highway 4 north through Lucan's and Exeter's main streets, the flat Huron County farmland with its brick farmhouses and grain elevators, then the pines beginning as the road nears the lake, the Pinery's forest on the left, Grand Bend's strip ending at the beach and the pier, the bluff at Bayfield with the harbour below and the village's trees above, and Goderich's square with its courthouse at the centre of the eight roads. The chauffeur knows the back roads that avoid the July queue on Highway 21, the Pinery's day-use gates, the strip's loading zones and the bluff road down to Bayfield's harbour; Lambton Shores and Goderich publish the beach conditions and the events.
Visitors coming the other way
A cottager's guests collected at YXU and driven to the shore, a Bayfield innkeeper's supplier to a London meeting, a Goderich family's student collected for Western, a shore wedding's guests from the London hotels: the same chauffeur, the same fixed rate in reverse, with the household account holding the cottage's gate code and the YXU page describing the meet and greet.
Corporate retreats and the summer offsite
The inns of Bayfield, the Oakwood at Grand Bend and the Benmiller near Goderich host the London companies' summer offsites and client days, and a Sprinter from a London office with the team, the shore afternoon, dinner at the inn and the coach home is quoted on the corporate account as the group transportation page describes.
Booking checklist
The London address and the shore address, beach or inn; the date and time; the vehicle class; whether the day is by the hour; the cooler, the chairs, the dog; the cottage's gate code; and the account or card. The desk confirms in one email.
