Black car in London · 2026-09-21 · 8-minute read
Western University in London, Ontario - Western on its campus between Richmond Street, Western Road and the Thames in the city's northwest, with Huron University, King's University College and the Ivey Business School on and around it - brings tens of thousands of students to the city each September and their families for convocation each June, and LondonLimo.net drives the year: the move-in with a van of boxes to the residence loading zone, the international student met at Pearson or YXU with a name board, the Christmas and April flights home, the parents' convocation weekend by the hour, the visiting speaker on a departmental account, and the Mustangs' Sprinter to an away game. The universities page has the service; this article is the campus year in detail, with the rates.
The campus, and where the car goes
University College's tower at the centre, the residences along Western Road and Sarnia Road - Saugeen-Maitland, Delaware, Perth, Essex, Elgin, Medway-Sydenham, Ontario Hall, London Hall, Alumni House - Alumni Hall on the west side for convocations and concerts, Western Alumni Stadium and the athletic centre, the Ivey building on Western Road, Huron on Western Road at the campus's west edge, King's across Richmond on Epworth Avenue, and University Hospital at the campus's north end. The chauffeur knows each residence's loading zone, Alumni Hall's drop and the campus's one-way loops; the neighbourhoods page covers Old North and the student streets between.

Move-in: the van, the boxes and the loading zone
A student's room in boxes - the duvet, the desk lamp, the mini-fridge, the winter coat that will not be needed for two months - goes in a luxury van or an SUV with the parents, from a London address at a fixed rate or from Kitchener, Windsor or Toronto at the destination page's rate; the chauffeur knows which residence has a loading zone and which needs a cart from the desk, and the last week of August is the fleet's busiest week outside Christmas. The fleet page says what fits in the van.

The international arrival
The largest single group the chauffeurs meet each August is the international students at Pearson's Terminal 1 - a name board, the study-permit queue waited through, two cases, the 401, the residence's desk, and a text to the parents in Delhi or Lagos at each step; the international student article is the parent's guide and the booking is made from abroad on the reservation engine.
Homecoming and the formals
Western Homecoming in October fills the stadium for the Mustangs' game and the Row for the parties, and alumni from across the country fly in to the hotels; a group of alumni books a Sprinter by the hour from the hotel to the tailgate, the game and the Ceeps, and a faculty formal or the Ivey ball books the partner fleet's stretch as the prom and graduation page describes, with Ontario's rules on alcohol applied.
The exodus: December and April
Mid-December's and late April's flights home are the busiest campus airport weeks: thousands of students to Pearson and YXU with a term's luggage, the residences' loading zones full of cases, and the desk running a manifest of shared Sprinters for students on the same flight - $39-46 a head to Pearson - alongside the sedans and SUVs; a parent abroad books the run on a household account in a minute, and the Pearson page has the timing rules.
Convocation: the family's day
Western's spring convocation runs over a fortnight of June ceremonies at Alumni Hall, with Huron's, King's and Ivey's own and the October session smaller; the families fly in, the hotels fill, and campus parking is gone by 8 a.m. The family's day is an SUV or a van by the hour: the hotel at 8:30, Alumni Hall's drop, the ceremony, the photographs on the concrete beach and at University College, lunch at the Idlewyld or on the Row, the reception, and the hotel or the airport - nine hours, a planning figure under $1,200 for the SUV, and the grandparents never walk a parking lot. The events page has the fortnight.
Visiting speakers, examiners and candidates
A department's visiting lecturer landing at Pearson, an external examiner for a thesis defence, a faculty candidate for a campus visit, a donor for a dinner: the departmental corporate account turns each into a two-minute booking by the administrator with the flight number, a name board at the terminal, the hotel, the campus and the airport again, on one invoice by cost centre with the duty-of-care record the university's travel policy asks for.
The Mustangs, and the clubs
The varsity teams travel to Hamilton, Waterloo, Guelph, Toronto, Windsor and Ottawa in season, and a team's Sprinter or coach with the equipment in the bays, the hotel and the return after the game is quoted from the schedule on the group transportation page; the intramural clubs, the debating society and the engineering competition team book the same way for their tournaments.
Ivey, in its own right
The Ivey Business School's MBA, EMBA and executive programmes bring participants and recruiters from Toronto weekly and its Spencer Leadership Centre hosts the residential programmes; a participant's Pearson run, a recruiting firm's day by the hour, a cohort's Toronto company visit by Sprinter and the Ivey ball's limousines are the bookings, on the school's or the company's account, as the business page describes.
Three campus bookings, as they went
Move-in, late August. A van from Mississauga with a student, two parents and eleven boxes to Saugeen's loading zone; $250 at the Mississauga page's rate; the cart from the desk and the chauffeur's help up the elevator.
Convocation, June. An SUV by the hour for a family from Calgary: the DoubleTree at 8:30, Alumni Hall, the photographs, lunch in Wortley Village, the reception, and YXU at 6 for the Calgary flight. Nine and a half hours.
A thesis examiner, March. Met at YXU at 9:40 p.m., the Delta Armouries, the campus at 8:30, and YXU at 4 on the department's account.
Booking it
The reservation engine prices campus journeys from any address; the convocation day and the departmental account are booked with the desk; the universities page has the campus and the rates page the figures.
Three questions the desk is asked about Western
Can the chauffeur drive onto the campus? Yes - the campus roads are public and the residences' loading zones and Alumni Hall's drop are reachable by car; on convocation days the campus's parking staff direct the loops and the chauffeur follows them. Can a parent book a car for a student's regular appointment? Yes - a household account holds a standing booking for a weekly therapy appointment or a monthly specialist, with the same chauffeur. Is there a student rate? The engine's fixed rates apply to everyone; the shared Sprinter at the exodus is the student's saving.
The residences' loading zones, one by one
Saugeen-Maitland's on the residence's east side off Western Road; Delaware's and Medway-Sydenham's off the campus's central loop; Perth's and Essex's behind the buildings; Ontario Hall's on Sarnia Road; London Hall's and Alumni House's on the campus's north side; Huron's on Western Road and King's on Epworth Avenue. Each has a fifteen-minute limit the chauffeur observes and a front desk with carts, and the universities page has the campus map.
The university's calendar, for the dates
Western publishes its academic calendar - the move-in days, the orientation week, the reading weeks, the exam periods, the convocation dates and the term ends - on its site, and the desk plans its manifests from it; the events page carries the year as the chauffeurs plan it.
The parents' visit, in the middle years
Thanksgiving, Homecoming, the winter visit and the spring: parents from Toronto drive or take the Toronto run, parents from Vancouver or abroad fly to Pearson or YXU and are met, and the hotels in the north cluster by the campus are the stay; a day by the hour - the residence, lunch on the Row, a Mustangs game, dinner in Wortley Village - is the visit's centre.
The student's own bookings
A student on a household account books the run to YXU for reading week, the car to a Toronto interview, the night out with friends by the party bus page's rules, and the hospital run when needed, in a minute each, with the parent seeing the bookings; the black car service page describes the account.
The research park and the summer
Western's research park at the campus's north edge and the summer's conferences and camps bring visitors, delegations and sports groups to the residences from May to August, and the group transportation page covers a conference's arrival banks and excursions to Stratford or the wineries.
Booking checklist for a campus journey
The building or the residence; the date and time; the flight for an airport meet; the student's name for the board; the boxes or the bags; whether the day is by the hour; the account, the department or the card; and a phone number in any country. The reservation engine takes the journey and the desk the convocation day.
The honest summary
The move-in by van, the arrival at Pearson with a board, the exodus by shared Sprinter, the convocation by the hour, the speaker on a departmental account and the team by coach: Western's year is the campus version of every service on the services hub, and the rates page has the figures.
Booking it, in one line
The reservation engine prices any campus journey; the desk books the convocation day, the departmental account and the team's coach; the universities page has the campus.
The desk's rule of thumb
Book the move-in and the exodus early; book the convocation day by the hour the week the dates are published; open a household account from abroad at the first arrival; and open a departmental account for the visitors. The FAQ has the questions students' parents ask most.
