London to Pearson & the airports · 2026-09-21 · 8-minute read
Waterloo airport from London, Ontario is a 95-kilometre run of about an hour and five minutes up the 401 to Breslau, east of Kitchener, at a LondonLimo.net planning figure of $190-230 plus HST for a business sedan and $230-280 for an executive SUV. Region of Waterloo International (YKF) expanded its terminal in 2023 and is the base of Flair's and WestJet's leisure and domestic routes to the sun, the west and a handful of US points, with fares that often undercut Pearson's for the same destination, a security queue of ten minutes and parking a fraction of Pearson's. The Waterloo airport page has the terminal and the meet; this article is the run from London, the arithmetic and the cases where Waterloo is the right airport.
Where YKF is, and how the run goes
The airport is at Breslau on the region's east side, between Kitchener and Guelph, reached from London by the 401 east to the Highway 8 interchange at Kitchener and then Fountain Street north, or by the 401 to the Guelph exit and Highway 7 west - the chauffeur chooses by the traffic. An hour and five minutes on a clear day; an hour and twenty on a Friday or a snowy one; the Kitchener-Waterloo destination page covers the region for a university or a tech-company day.

What flies from Waterloo
Flair's domestic network - Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax and the rest by season - and its sun routes; WestJet's seasonal leisure flights; and the charter carriers in winter. The airport's site has the current map, which changes twice a year. For a London traveller, Waterloo's value is a cheap fare to a western city or a sun destination on a day YXU does not fly it.
The 2023 terminal
The expanded terminal has more gates, a larger security hall and a proper arrivals area with CBSA counters for the sun flights; security is one or two lanes and ten minutes on a normal morning, twenty when a full Flair aircraft is boarding; the curb is close to check-in and the lots are beside the terminal. The desk's rule is two hours before a sun flight and ninety minutes before a domestic one, plus the hour and five - a 6:30 a.m. sun flight is a 3:25 a.m. pickup from downtown London.

The arithmetic against YXU and Pearson
Against YXU, Waterloo wins only when YXU does not fly the route or its fare is much higher - the fifteen-minute run is hard to beat; against Pearson, Waterloo wins on the leisure routes when the fare is lower, the run is an hour shorter and $105 cheaper each way, and the terminal is easy. The airports comparison article sets the eight airports side by side, and the travel desk prices a trip across them before the flight is booked.
The pickup on the return
The chauffeur meets an arrival beside the carousel with a name board, tracked from the departure, the ninety-minute international wait included; a sun flight home clears the CBSA counters in the same hall in twenty to forty minutes; the car is at the curb. The airport pickup guide has the procedure.
Winter on the 401 to Kitchener
The 401 between Woodstock and Cambridge is the snow belt, and the Waterloo run crosses all of it; the chauffeur reads the Ontario 511 cameras, drives on winter tires, and the desk leaves earlier by rule on a squall morning. The winter article describes the discipline.
Kitchener and Guelph, on the same run
A London traveller with a Kitchener meeting and a Waterloo flight, a Western student's parent collecting from a Guelph residence on the way to the airport, a company's delegation to the tech corridor flying out from YKF: the Kitchener-Waterloo page and the Guelph page price the day, and the desk combines the legs on one booking.
Three Waterloo runs, as they went
A student to Vancouver, April, Flair at 7 a.m. A sedan from Western's residence at 4:20 a.m.; the terminal at 5:25; the fare was $205 against Pearson's $320 and YXU had no Vancouver flight that morning.
A family of five to Punta Cana, January, a charter at 6:45 a.m. A van from Westmount at 3:20 a.m. in a squall, driven at 80 through Woodstock; the terminal at 4:50; the family's margin intact.
A couple back from Calgary, Sunday 10:40 p.m. Met beside the carousel; home in Old South at 12:10 a.m.
Booking it
Enter Waterloo airport on the reservation engine with the flight number, and the fixed rate from any London address appears; the Waterloo airport page has the terminal and the rates page the figures.
Three questions the desk is asked about Waterloo
Is Waterloo cheaper than YXU to reach? No - YXU is fifteen minutes and $45-65; Waterloo is an hour and $190-230; Waterloo wins only when its flight exists and YXU's does not, or when the fare difference is large. Does Flair's reliability worry the desk? A budget carrier's schedule changes and its flights cancel more than the majors'; the desk tracks the flight and moves the pickup, and a cancelled flight is re-booked without a fee, but the travel desk says honestly which carrier it is booking. Can a Kitchener passenger be added to a London booking? Yes - a Kitchener address on the way is a short stop the engine prices.
The terminal in more detail
The expanded terminal's check-in hall has the airlines' counters along one wall and the security screening at the end, with the gates beyond; the arrivals hall has the carousel and the CBSA counters for the sun flights; the lots are beside the terminal and the curb is close to the doors. CATSA's rules apply as everywhere; the Waterloo airport page has the layout and the meet.
The region around the airport
Breslau, Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph are all within twenty minutes of YKF, and a London family flying from Waterloo with a stop to collect a student at the University of Waterloo or Guelph on the way is one booking; the Kitchener-Waterloo page, the Cambridge page and the Guelph page have each.
The cargo and the corporate side
Waterloo's general-aviation side serves the region's corporate aircraft and flight training, and a London executive flying privately from YKF is met at the FBO's door as the private jet page describes; the region's tech companies' visitors who fly commercially into YKF from the west are corporate account meets.
Booking checklist for a Waterloo run
The flight number and the scheduled time; the London address or the town on the way; the passengers and the bags; a car seat; a stop in Kitchener, Cambridge or Guelph; the return flight; the account or the card; and a phone number for the texts. The reservation engine takes Waterloo airport as an address.
The fare, and what it includes
A planning figure of $190-230 for a sedan, $230-280 for an SUV and $390-470 for a Sprinter, one way, with the chauffeur's time both ways, fuel, tracking, the meet, the ninety-minute international wait and the gratuity inside; a small early-hours premium before 5 a.m., shown on the engine. The rates page has every class and the cost guide the same logic for Pearson.
The desk's honest summary
YXU when it flies the route; Pearson for everything international and most business travel; Waterloo for the budget carriers' domestic and sun routes when the fare is right; Hamilton for the leisure charters; and the airports comparison article for the whole table. Waterloo's virtue is that it is an easy airport an hour away with a fare that sometimes makes the hour worth it, and the desk will say when it does.
What the airport publishes
Region of Waterloo International's site has the airlines, the destinations by season, the parking and the arrivals and departures boards; the desk reads the boards for every meet and the destinations for every travel-desk search, and the airport's own advice on arrival times is the floor the desk's rule sits on.
A worked example: a student to Vancouver in April
A Western student with one case and a Flair flight to Vancouver at 7 a.m. from Waterloo: YXU had no Vancouver flight that morning and Pearson's direct was $210 more; the sedan from the residence at 4:20 a.m. was $205 against Pearson's $320; the student saved $325 on the trip and was at the gate by 5:45 with a coffee. The parent in Vancouver booked it on the reservation engine from a household account opened for the September arrival.
The run's stages, briefly
The 401 east past Woodstock, forty minutes; the Highway 8 interchange at Kitchener or the Guelph exit and Highway 7, fifteen; Fountain Street to the airport's approach, ten. The snow belt is the first forty minutes, and the winter article has the rules; the Kitchener-Waterloo page has the region for a day's work.
The return, and the Waterloo hotel night
A sun flight landing at Waterloo at 11 p.m. is met beside the carousel and the family is home in London at 12:30; a family that would rather not do the hour at midnight books a Kitchener hotel through the travel desk and the run home in the morning, and the desk says honestly that the hour asleep in the car is the easier choice for most.
The corporate traveller from Waterloo
A London tech company's engineer flying Flair to Vancouver for a week, a Diamond Aircraft supplier from the west flying in to YKF and driven to London, a delegation from Calgary landing at Waterloo for a Western event: the corporate account holds the runs, the assistant books in two minutes, and the corporate chauffeur service page describes the invoice.
The desk's rule of thumb for Waterloo
Check YXU first; if YXU does not fly the route on the day, check Waterloo and Hamilton against Pearson with the run's fare added to each; take Waterloo when its fare plus $190-230 each way beats Pearson's plus $295-345 and the flight's hour is humane; and add a Kitchener or Guelph stop if a student or a meeting is on the way. The airport limo page has the general rules and the reservation engine the price in seconds. A Waterloo flight cancelled by a budget carrier the night before is a text to the desk and a Pearson run or a re-booked YXU flight the next morning, at the new run's fare and no cancellation charge, as the terms state.
Booking it, in one line
The reservation engine prices Waterloo airport from any London address in seconds with the flight tracked; the desk adds the Kitchener or Guelph stop and the travel desk the flight itself.
