The casino run from London, Ontario goes one of two ways: west to Caesars Windsor - 190 kilometres and two hours down the 401 and the E.C. Row to the riverfront porte-cochere - at a LondonLimo.net planning figure of $340-400 plus HST one way for a business sedan, or east to Fallsview Casino Resort - 200 kilometres and two hours twenty by the 401, the 403 and the QEW to the valet loop on the ridge above the Falls - at $360-420. Either run is also the night by the hour with the chauffeur waiting, an SUV for six at $115-135 or a Sprinter for fourteen at $145-175, or a fixed fare each way with an overnight in the casino's hotel booked through the travel desk. The casino trips page has the service; this article is the two runs, timed, priced and driven.

Caesars Windsor, the run

The 401 west from Wellington Road past the Tilbury ONroute - the last stop - to the E.C. Row Expressway at Windsor's edge, west to Ouellette and north to Riverside Drive, with Detroit's skyline across the river as the car turns into the porte-cochere; two hours on a Saturday afternoon and two and a quarter on a Friday when the 401's truck lanes are full. The Windsor article has the city and the bridge.

Fallsview, the run

The 401 east to Woodstock, the 403 through Brantford and Hamilton, the QEW along the lake to the 420 and Fallsview Boulevard on the ridge; two hours twenty off-peak and closer to three through Hamilton on a Friday at 5; the Niagara article has the day around the casino and the Niagara Parks site the Falls' illumination times.

The fixed fare against the hourly night

A couple who stays overnight books two fixed fares - $340-400 each way to Windsor - and the chauffeur returns to London between; a group of six that goes and comes back the same night books the SUV by the hour - ten hours at $125 is $1,250, less than two SUV fares at $435 and a chauffeur who waited unpaid; the desk does the sum for every booking, and the rates page has both.

The concert and show nights

Caesars' Colosseum hosts the touring acts and Fallsview's theatre the same circuit, and a London couple's concert night is the fixed fare down, the show, the tables after and the hotel, with the run home on Sunday; the concerts and sports page has the venue's doors and the travel desk books the room with the show.

The group's Sprinter and bus

Fourteen in a Sprinter by the hour for a Windsor night, or twenty-two in the partner fleet's bus with the rules aboard the AGCO's, as the party bus article describes; the bus drives the 401 at a coach's pace and the desk adds fifteen minutes an hour to the sedan's time.

The winter runs

The 401 west of London takes the lake-effect squalls from Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair between December and February, and the 403 through Hamilton takes the escarpment's ice; the winter-tired fleet runs when the OPP's highway is open and the desk watches the Ontario 511 cameras the evening before; a January casino night is booked with the return time flexible. The winter article has the rules.

The Detroit casinos across the river

A Windsor overnight with passports adds MGM Grand, MotorCity and Greektown across the Ambassador Bridge or the Gordie Howe on the cross-border page's rules; the Detroit page has the city and the desk books the crossing with the passports scanned the week before.

The rules aboard, and at the door

Alcohol in the bus and the stretch for legal-age passengers, none in the sedan, the SUV and the Sprinter; the casinos admit nineteen and over with government ID under the OLG's rules; and the chauffeur drives a group home at the same pace whatever the night's result. The etiquette guide has the rest.

Three runs, as they went

Caesars, a couple, a Friday in November. Byron at 4:15, the Tilbury ONroute at 5:20, the porte-cochere at 6:25; the Colosseum's show at 8; the hotel; the run home on Saturday at noon. Two fixed fares at $370.

Fallsview, a sixtieth birthday, fourteen, September. Masonville at 3, the valet loop at 5:40, the fireworks from the ridge at 10, the tables, the hotel, the Shaw's matinee on Sunday, home at 8. A Sprinter for two days on the hourly page's terms.

Caesars, six friends, a Saturday in March. Westmount at 5, dinner at Caesars at 7:30, the tables until 1, home at 3:15. An SUV for ten and a quarter hours.

Booking it

The run is one email or call to the desk with the date, the casino, the numbers, the hours or the overnight; a written quote follows; the casino trips page has the service and the Gateway article the London casino eight minutes away.

Three questions the desk is asked about the two runs

Which is closer? Windsor by twenty minutes and ten kilometres, and the 401 west is emptier than the 403 through Hamilton; Fallsview has the Falls, the Shaw and the wineries around it, and a first casino weekend usually goes east.

Can the chauffeur wait overnight? No - a fixed-fare chauffeur returns to London and comes back for the booked return; the travel desk books the hotel and the run home is a second fixed fare.

Can we stop on the way? Yes - the Tilbury ONroute westbound, the Woodstock or Cambridge ONroute eastbound, or a winery on the Niagara run; a stop of thirty minutes is inside a fixed fare and a longer one is the hourly rate. The FAQ has the rest.

The 401 west, in detail

Wellington Road to the 401 at Exit 186, the highway west past the Highbury and Wonderland interchanges, the long straight through Middlesex and Chatham-Kent with the wind farms on the right, the Tilbury ONroute at kilometre 56, and the E.C. Row Expressway from Exit 14 through Windsor's south side to Ouellette; two hours on a Saturday afternoon, and the Chatham-Kent page has the stretch's towns.

The 403 and the QEW, in detail

The 401 east to Exit 235 at Woodstock, the 403 through Brantford and Ancaster to Hamilton's escarpment and the Burlington Skyway, the QEW along the lake through St. Catharines to the 420, and Fallsview Boulevard on the ridge; two hours twenty off-peak and the Skyway's wind closures in winter, which the Ontario 511 site posts; the Hamilton page has the escarpment.

Caesars' porte-cochere and hotel

The hotel's entrance on Riverside Drive East takes a sedan, a Sprinter or a bus, the two towers hold the rooms, the Colosseum's stage door is around the corner and the valet's lot takes a chauffeur who waits by the hour; a couple's overnight is booked through the travel desk with the show's tickets, and the Windsor article has the riverfront.

Fallsview's valet loop and the Clifton Hill hotels

The valet loop on Fallsview Boulevard takes the drop and the pickup, the resort's tower holds the rooms with the Falls below, and the Clifton Hill hotels five minutes north are the cheaper overnight for a group; the Niagara article has the day and the Niagara Parks site the illumination and the fireworks' times.

The hourly night's arithmetic, in detail

Six friends to Windsor: an SUV for ten hours at $125 is $1,250 plus HST, $208 a head; two SUV fixed fares at $435 are $870 but the chauffeur would return to London and come back, which is a $435 empty run the fare does not cover, so the desk books the hourly night; a couple with an overnight books two fares at $370, $740, because the chauffeur's return is a day later. The rates page has both.

The concert night's timing

The Colosseum's shows start at 8 and end at 10:30, and a London couple who goes home the same night leaves at 11 and is home at 1; the desk's honest advice is the overnight, and the concerts and sports page has the venue's door. Fallsview's theatre runs the same hours with the Falls' fireworks at 10 in summer.

The winter run, in detail

The 401 between London and Tilbury takes the lake-effect squalls from Lake Huron on a northwest wind and from Lake St. Clair on a southwest, the OPP closes the highway when the visibility goes, and the 403's escarpment ices before the flat; the chauffeur leaves thirty minutes earlier from December to February and the desk moves the return time if the Ontario 511 cameras show a closure. The winter article has the rules.

Booking checklist for the casino run

The date; the casino; the numbers; the pickup; the overnight or the same-night return; the show if any; the passports if Detroit; the organiser's card. Eight lines to the desk and a written quote comes back within a working day.

The honest summary

Windsor is two hours west and Fallsview two hours twenty east, the fixed fare is for the overnight and the hourly night for the same-night group, and the chauffeur is the one who does not drink; the casino trips page has the service.

A worked example: the two quotes side by side

A group of six asked the desk for a Saturday at Caesars and a Saturday at Fallsview, same-night return both. Windsor: an SUV for ten hours at $125, $1,250 plus HST. Fallsview: eleven hours at $125, $1,375. The group chose Windsor for the shorter road and booked Fallsview for the autumn with an overnight at two SUV fares of $455 and a Clifton Hill hotel through the travel desk; the Niagara Falls page has the fare and the rates page the SUV's hour.

The desk's rule of thumb

Overnight, two fixed fares; same night, the hourly vehicle; Windsor for the shorter road and Fallsview for the Falls around it; the passports for Detroit; and thirty minutes earlier from December to February. The casino trips page has the service.
