London, Ontario to Grand Bend by car is 80 kilometres and an hour - Richmond Street to Highway 4 north through Lucan and Exeter and the 83 west to the 81, or the 402 west to the 21 north through Forest - at a LondonLimo.net planning figure of $165-205 plus HST each way for a business sedan, $205-250 for an executive SUV and $340-410 for a Sprinter, or the day by the hour in an SUV for six at $115-135 with the coolers, the umbrellas and the boogie boards in the back; the day is the beach and the Main Street strip, the Pinery Provincial Park's dunes and the Old Ausable Channel, Bayfield's harbour and Goderich's square up the shore, the Huron Country Playhouse's evening, and the sunset the shore is known for before the run home with nobody driving the 81 after a day in the sun. The Grand Bend page has the destination; this article is the beach day, the cottage run and the shore's towns.

The road, in detail
Richmond Street north past Masonville to Highway 4, the 4 through Lucan and Exeter's main streets, the 83 west from Exeter to Dashwood and the 81 to the village; or the 402 west from London's south to Exit 34 at Forest and the 21 north along the shore; an hour either way, the 4 and 83 the direct road and the 402 and 21 the one that adds the Pinery first; the Sarnia page has the 402's other end.

The beach, and Main Street
Grand Bend's main beach at the foot of Main Street with the pier, the lifeguards in season and the strip's ice cream, the Main Street lot that fills by 11 on a July Saturday, and the SUV's drop at the beach's access with the coolers and the umbrellas carried the last fifty metres; the chauffeur parks where the village allows and returns by text, and the Lambton Shores site has the beach's rules on dogs, glass and fires.
The Pinery
The Pinery's ten kilometres of beach below the dunes, the oak savanna's trails, the Old Ausable Channel's canoe rental and the campground; a day pass at the gate, the chauffeur at the beach's lot, and a family that wants the quieter sand takes the Pinery over the village; the Ontario Parks site has the passes and the park fills on a summer weekend by noon.
Bayfield and Goderich
Bayfield's harbour and its main street of shops and inns twenty-five minutes north on the 21, and Goderich's octagonal square, its harbour and the sunset from the bluff forty-five minutes north; the shore's day that adds both is ten hours by the hour with lunch in Bayfield and dinner on Goderich's square, and the Bellamere article has the Huron shore's tasting rooms for the adults.
The sunset
The Huron shore faces west and the sunset over the lake is the shore's own attraction - the beach at Grand Bend at 8:45 in July, Goderich's bluff, the Pinery's dunes - and the run home leaves at 9:15 with the family asleep by Exeter; the chauffeur times the day to it.
The cottage run
A family to a rented cottage on the shore for the week: the SUV with the coolers, the cases and the children's bicycles on Friday at 4, the cottage's lane, and the return on the following Friday; two fares at $205-250 and the fleet page is honest about the cargo; a group to a beach house for a weekend is a Sprinter with the party bus page's rules if the weekend is that kind.
The Playhouse
The Huron Country Playhouse's summer season east of the village with an evening curtain and the theatre's lot for the drop; a London couple's beach afternoon and the play's evening is the day by the hour, and the Stratford article has the other summer theatre.
The winter shore, honestly
The village's strip closes for the winter, the beach is ice, the Pinery's trails are skied and the 21 takes Lake Huron's squalls straight off the lake; a winter run to the shore is a cottage's closing or Goderich's business, driven with the winter article's rules, and the desk says so.
Three shore days, as they went
A family of five, a Saturday in July. Byron at 9 in the SUV with the coolers, the Pinery's beach at 10:10, the village's strip for ice cream at 4, the sunset from the pier at 8:45, home at 10:20. Eleven and a half hours by the hour.
A cottage week, a family of four, August. Masonville at 4 on Friday with the cases and the bicycles, the cottage's lane at 5:10; the return the following Friday. Two SUV fares.
Bayfield and Goderich, a couple, a Sunday in September. Old North at 10, Bayfield's harbour for lunch, Goderich's square at 3, the sunset from the bluff, home at 9:30. Nine and a half hours in the luxury sedan.
Booking it
The run is a fixed fare on the reservation engine with the shore's address; the day by the hour and the cottage week are one email to the desk; the Grand Bend page has the destination.
Three questions the desk is asked about the shore
Can the chauffeur park at the beach? The village's lots take a car at the day rate and fill by 11 on a July Saturday; the chauffeur drops at the beach's access, parks where he can and returns by text; a family that wants the car at the sand goes to the Pinery.
Can we bring a dog? In the SUV with notice, yes; on Grand Bend's main beach, no; on the Pinery's dog beach, yes; the Lambton Shores site has the rules.
Is the shore open in September? The best month - warm water, empty sand and the sunset at 7:45; the FAQ has the rest.

Booking checklist for the shore day
The date; the numbers and the children's ages; the pickup; the beach or the Pinery; Bayfield and Goderich or not; the sunset or an early return; the coolers and the gear; the vehicle; the card. Nine lines to the desk and the quote comes back within a working day.
The honest summary
An hour to the sand at $165-205 for a sedan or the day by the hour in the SUV with the coolers, the Pinery for the quiet, Bayfield and Goderich up the shore and the sunset at the end; the Grand Bend page has the destination.
